yes there are many names for a tattoo artist
The regulations for tattoo school length vary by location. In Virginia, according to www.tattoo-training.net, school takes 750 hours. This leads to professional licensure. As a professional tattoo artist I can tell you that there is no such thing as a mandatory tattoo school. Some states require that the artist have been through an apprenticeship for a certain amount of time, but there is no requirement to go to "tattoo school." As a matter of fact, most reputable tattoo artists laugh at the notion of a tattoo school. These schools promise to teach you to be a tattoo artist in 2 weeks... The typical apprenticeship lasts for at least 1-2 years. Having said that, how do you expect a classroom full of students to learn in 2 weeks what a single student takes years to learn in a hands-on environment?
You can get a butterfly tattoo at any local tattoo artist shop. This tattoo is the most common tattoo and you will find many examples of the artwork on the wall and in the tattoo artist's portfolio.
There is no such thing. It is part of the entertainment industry. AZ state law may require a business license, but there is no such thing as a tattoo artist license. You can't get certified because there is no schools or classes. Getting certified by the National Safety Council for Bloodborne Pathogens & Cross Contamination is not required, but I would not let someone tattoo me who wasn't certified. This is a health issue. (roll top trash cans, no gloves, reused needles, non-bagged cords, bottles, home made machines etc. are bad signs). Blake Laramie Stigmata Tattoo Since 1995

You can't legally. Anyone tattooing without a license to do so is breaking the law......and that is probably not the only law that they're breaking. I am a professional state licensed tattoo artist in NH.

Yes, in Illinois, tattoo artists are required to be licensed by the Department of Public Health. This involves completing a specific training program, passing an exam, and meeting other requirements such as obtaining liability insurance.
It will depend upon the state. There are some states that are looking to disallow any tattoos at all. Some require medical supervision to obtain a license. Others have very strict requirements of training and testing regarding health regulations.
Many states require that a person must be 18 years of age to receive a tattoo, but some states allow a minor to receive a tattoo with parental consent. Most tattoo artist will allow a minor to receive a tattoo with the oral or written consent of a guardian, while some will set age restrictions for their business.
No, Only certain online tattoo supply shops require you to have a licence to purchase their equipment. But most don't ask.
You must apprentice under a Master artist before you can get a license, bottom line. I'm not sure what your experience is, but I recommend you go to a reputable shop and talk to an artist there about getting your apprenticeship started, if you are really serious about your tattoo career and want to work out of a shop, not out of your kitchen.
Yea , as long as you have a tattoo license .
