All of them have the serial number on the butt. Some of them have the same serial number on the bottom of the barrel above the extractor. Some have it on the back of the cylinder and the extractor star. Some also have it on the back of the yoke or crane visible through an empty chamber. There is also usually an assembly number on the frame below the barrel inside the crane area with a matching number on the matching surface of the crane. sometimes the grips are also serial numbered the same as the revolver.

Of course, you will also find Smith & Wesson, their logo, and the words "Marcas Registradas". S&W had problems with spanish makers copying their weapons.
