Daisy started making the Red Ryder in 1939. I found a web page with an add for a 1940 Red Ryder. The price listed was $2.95. see the link below.
There are about 22 or 23 variations of the Red Ryder. Yours is worth about $35 - $40. If it has the BB tin, then you can add $10.
A new Daisy Red Ryder cost around $40
Not telling. You'll shoot your eye out!
There are 13 different versions of the 1938B Red Ryder starting in 1972 and is still in production today. Before that it was the model 111. The fact that it's sealed helps with the value considerably. So here is what I suggest. Daisy offers a service to identify antique Daisy air guns (free) See the link below it's part of the Daisy web site.
The model 111 was a Daisy Western Carbine (Not a Red Ryder) It was made from 1963 to 1978. The Daisy No: 111 model 40 (Not Model 111) was a Red Ryder and was made from 1940 to 1952.
25 USD or so
There have been 23 plus variation of the Daisy Red Ryder starting in 1940 up to today. Not counting the ones that look similar to the Red Ryder but do not say "Red Ryder" on them. The Red Ryder is probably the most manufactured air rifle of all time. They don't even put serial numbers on them just LOT numbers. But some are valuable if they are really old. So here is what I suggest. Daisy offers a service to estimate the value of daisy antiques and it's free. See the Link Below.
Daisy provides a service to evaluate old Daisy's ( See the Link Below.)
