Yes, I also have a Remington 244. I haven't it shot it in years but it used to work great with Winchester 6mm cartridges. Seemed to jam more with Remington for some odd reason.

Are you sure you have a Remington model 722 in .223 caliber?These bolt action short action rifles were chambered in 222 rem,222 rem mag,243 win,244 rem,257 Roberts,300savage,or .308 win.only.These bolt action rifles were made from 1948-1962 which is before the .223 rem cartridge exsisted.I believe that your rifle was rechambered at some point in time before you owned it.I would have a gunsmith take a casting of the chamber to be sure.I own a model 722 Remington in 300 savage caliber and I love this rifle.Good luck with yours.

$ 1000.I do not know who answered this question?I have a model 722 in 300 Savage caliber and paid 475 dollars for mine.It is one sweet shooting bolt action rifle.I would not sell it for the world.I know have a chance to buy one in .244 remington caliber(6mm Remington) with the faster twist rate barrel.The price on that one is 450 dollars,and I am going to jump on that one also.Most can be found for between 400-550 dollars and they are fine made rifles with alot of accuracy going for them.

If the barrel is the factory piece and no repopped. The 244 had a 1 in 12 twist until 1962 when it became commercialized as the 6mm Rem. Cal with a 1-9 twist that stableized the round in the model 700. Therefore, your rifle is of '61 vintage or a bit earlier. The age is not much help in the value unless basically NEW IN THE BOX... As you have NOT stated the NRA condition of this rifle, it could be roughly valued at 200-325.00 in good condition, MINT in the box, the 244 caliber in the Model 722 is bringing 600-1100.
