In the US about 3.5% of people are gay, in the UK its 1% and about 2% for the rest of Europe. I also know that something like 9% of the Brazilian population identify themselves as gay. I got these figures from official governmental reports, i wouldn't rely on anything other than them, especially the urban myth that 1 in 10 people are gay.
