shoot a lighter pellet.
320 in a pellet gun is average. there are a few that have a higher FPS, but anything that fires between 300 - 400 FPS is normal for a C02 pistol. Rifles on the other hand currently are made to fire above 1000 FPS. The Crosman 1377C fires above 600 FPS but you have to pump it 10 times and it is a single shot pistol
That would most likely be the Hatsan AT P2 PCP Air Pistol at 870 FPS
The highest velocity of an airgun is that of Evanix AR6 pistol which is 1000 fps.
It depends on the distance and the type of wood. Pine is soft but Iron wood is hard and the pellet may not penetrate it. The further you are from the target the less energy the pellet will have when it strikes.
Air guns and rifles are rated by their FPS (FEET PER SECOND) they shoot at different speeds depending on the model. An example is a Daisy Red Ryder that shoots at 350 FPS but a Benjamin Marauder fires a .177 pellet at 1100 FPS. The slowest pellet gun I know of is the Marksman model 1010 that fires at 250 FPS.
600 FPS - Pellet 625 FPS - BB
With the right pellet you you can, But it should be a hunting Pellet (Hollow-point) and it should be a heavy pellet not a light weight pellet with at least 900 to1000 FPS.
Gamo Hunter Extreme 1650 FPS - Air rifle .177 Cal Air Force TalonP 900 FPS air pistol .25 Cal Hatsan AT P1 Air Pistol .177 870 FPS The Air Force TalonP is faster in .25 Cal than the Hatsan .177 Cal
FPS is the abbreviation for "Feet per second". Used to state how fast a pellet travels when first fired.
You are saying both "Pellet Gun" and "Air Rifle in the same question." If it was a rifle it would most likely fall to the "AIR FORCE CONDOR" at over 1400 FPS, using a .177 barrel. (It has 12 different barrels that fit the rifle) Pellet guns are not as powerful as rifles. The EVANIX HUNTING MASTER fires a .22 cal pellet at 1000 FPS. The Fastest .177 air pistol that I know of is the Crosman 1720T Target pistol that is rated at 750 FPS. By the time I answer this there may be one faster Don't confuse speed with accuracy. Olympic class air pistols like the "Feinwerkbau P44 Match pistol" only fires at 508 FPS but is dead accurate and only cost $1,696 dollars.
The Beeman P-17 is a Pellet Pistol not an Airsoft Pistol. Airsoft shoot 6MM plastic BB's. The P-17 shoots .177 caliber Pellets at 410 Feet Per Second. (FPS) considerably faster and deadlier than any airsoft pistol. Do not shoot anyone else with a pellet pistol it could cause serious injury. If you are not sure how to shoot a pellet pistol find someone who understands shooting to teach you. Pellet pistols are beyond BB guns so the P-17 is NOT a BB gun. Be safe.
