A relevant source is information that has to do with the subject at hand. If you are writing about seniors in society, an article written about global warming would not be relevant.

A current source is a source that is up to date on the material - it is the most recent information available.

A "source" tends to be an article which has been directly copied or cited from. A "reference", however, refers to a work which has been used to verify information.
