Anywhere from $100-250, depending on condition.
Made from 1949-1957. The 142A is a bolt action, and is less common that the semi-auto version, the Model 152A. There is collector interest in the Mossberg 142A, and values are going up. Original peep sight is hard to find. Nice little rifle.
According to the "Blue Book of Gun Values" the Mossberg 142A was manufactured 1949 - 1957.
It was made by Mossberg around 1930 plus a few years. It was a low budget bolt action rifle Mossberg model 321 or 320 under the Western Auto name
You will have to call Mossberg
have a gunsmith check it out first. The 142A can shoot single shot and shoot them well everything from CB caps, gallery shot, short, long and long rifle cartridges. The governing factor for using the clip is whether you have the strip insert for the clip that keeps shorts from sliding too far forward as the action is worked.
Depends on the condition. IF it is complete with the peep sight, and the fold down forearm, there is a modest collectors interest- and in Very Good condition, may run $200 or so. Missing peep sight, etc, maybe $100 or so.

I cant tell you how to exactly age your mossberg shotgun, however i do know that the earlier model mossbergs do not have ported barrels. I know this does't exactly help out much, but mossberg does offer a porting and refinishing service for a LOW price!
Made in 1976. Link at bottom of page to Mossberg .22 rifle info.
