  • The label 'puppy love' is meant for those very young and because they are not mature enough and have not experienced dating enough to know what love really is, but are attracted to the opposite sex which could even be an uncle; friend of the family or cousin or someone at school, but they have that 'crush' from a distance and generally do little about it but admire that person. Most young people go through puppy love at least once in their life. True love is when you have had more experience dating the opposite sex and eventually finding that special someone where the chemistry is just right and they fall in love. True love is about loving that person more than yourself; maturity; honesty; trust; dedication; good communication skills; going through the good and bad times and loving that person throughout the years together.
  • You need to be an adult to know the difference. Not of a certain age but mature. That is difficult to define. Some people 'grow up' before others. Sadly, some never do. Working definition (open to discussion,) Puppy love is a 'crush', a desire to be with someone unobtainable. Love: That quality whereby someone else's happiness is fundamental to your own.
