A southie dot tattoo is a triangular dot pattern resembling a shamrock.
A Southie dot is exactly what it says, it's a dot,put usually at the wrist area--back when, it would have been put on using a pin or sewing needle, using India ink.
there is also a Southie Cross same method but this would be put on the lower part on one of your fingers, and of course with false sense of security the needle would be sterilized with a match.

I grew-up in old School Boston, yes in Boston, not the suburbs. The Southie dot was on the top of the left hand at the fleshy part if the apex between the index finger and the thunb It was a single black round dot, approximately 1/3 of an inch in diameter. Regardless of what ink was used, it was perfectly round and it was black, and the ones I saw were obviously done by tattoo professionals. It clearly indicated that one was from that neigborhood of Boston, I suppose it had other significance, but some things should remain a mystery. Peace. DW
A sauthie dot: is done with Indian ink on the center of your wrist. Signifying that you are from South Boston. A teenage phase of your pride in South Boston
left arm, right above the hand, almost on the wrist in the center, the dorchester dot is on the right arm
That you drunkenly and foolishly tattooed a dot on yourself to be one of the "cool" kids with a party dot tattoo. It means nothing, and looks like a freckle or a mole.
It means you lived through something you shouldn't of have,
Mi vida loca...my crazy life.
Means that person has Diabetes.
