Twenty shots of pure alcohol in one sitting would undoubtedly be fatal. Twenty shots of just about any kind of liquor has the potential to be fatal if taken one after the other, regardless of the tolerance of the drinker.
A lucky drinker would pass out or throw up before getting it all down. The unlucky one would be the "winner."
The good news: You are aware that too much alcohol will kill. It is NOT the number of shots that is critical, it is the blood alcohol level that counts. A very large, burly and strong man can take more alcohol than a short, petite person. And the faster a person drinks, the faster the blood alcohol level will rise. BAC, or blood alcohol content, measures the volume of blood that is alcohol. In some countries the measure is mass, not volume. A blood alcohol level of .10 means one tenth of one percent of the blood by volume is alcohol. A level of .05 means 5 hundredths of one percent (or one twentieth of one percent of the blood by volume) is alcohol. Fatal levels will vary to some degree. Some estimates of fatal BAC are around .40; The site at the link suggests that at .50, you will experience alcohol poisoning and probably death.
The link provides suggestions about what you might observe in persons at various levels of alcohol poisoning. The site also has a chart showing ON AVERAGE how the number of shots can affect BAC. DON'T rely on this chart. When partying, people are not going to be taking out lab equipment to accurately measure 'shots', and your individual physiology doesn't care what kind of charts you have been looking at.
So, pay attention and keep your wits about you. If someone is challenging you to 'keep up' with the number of shots he or she is drinking, walk away.
you get fat
I'm no math genius. I'm guessing three. I'm not going to tell you my name just in case I get it wrong and look like an idiot.
Yes - the age is not the issue, it is what happens when you drink, or how you react to it.

Shots - 2013 I was released on: USA: 20 April 2013
Assuming a "by the book" shot is 1 ounce, there would be 25.6 shots in a fifth of alcohol (25.6 ounces, or a fifth of a gallon). If you consider a shot to be the typical 1.5 ounces, then there are just a little over 17 shots.
10, 20, 30 or as many shots as a magazine will hold for that gun................
