America uses many different firearms. Usually it depends on what kind of mission they are running. For field firefights they use the M4 Carbine, a general purpose carbine rifle that fires 700-950 rounds per minute. Also for the field they use the M16A4, an all purpose Assault Rifle that fires a 3 round burst, but it can still fires a rather fast 750-900 rounds per minute. For a heavy gunner they would have a few variants of their weapon. One gun that a heavy gunner could use is an M60 which at a very heavy 23.15 pound general purpose machine gun that has a slowly fire rate at only 500-600 rounds per minute, but is dangerously powerful. They could also use an M249 Para which is squad automatic machine gun that certainly packs a lot of weight at 22 pounds. It has a very fast very fire at 800-1,000 rounds per minute. An M240 is another variant of the M60, but it has a faster fire rate at 700-900 rounds per minute. A sniper would use an M14 that is a powerful sniper rifle that can shoot 875+ yards. It is semi-automatic, however, for a sniper rifle, it has an extremely fast fire rate at 700-750 rounds per minute. Also as sniper, a Barrett M82 would be of use. It is an extremely powerful sniper rifle that can reach over a mile at effective range. It can reach 5,906 feet at least. It has a high fire rate for a sniper rifle at 400-500 rounds per minute. If a soldier is running an sort of recon/special operations mission, a big time weapon used is the Steyr AUG A1. It is a personal favorite weapon of mine. It fires a very fast 800-1,000 rounds per minute, and even with that fire rate it maintains stability. It is also an extremely easy weapon to move around with, as it is only 7.1 pounds.
