Nope, it's rated PG.
E. R. Armentino shows in my references only as a maker of shotguns. The .300 Holland & Holland is, of course, a rifle, and I find no listings of rifles in their products.
S. R. Crown Hall was created in 1956.
Rowland Richards. Gun maker in Birmingham, England circa 1860's. 1860's would be a period of time when percussion firearms were used...............

R stands for "Regina" in criminal cases i.e. the Crown. In criminal cases the other party is the CPS (Crown Prosecution Service) who bring the action against the defendant on behalf of the State, or the Crown. It is referred to as R for Regina aka the Queen. Most lawyers will refer to it as "The Crown and Smith" NOT "R versus Smith"
I think what you are seeing is in actuality PN which is a proof mark and stands for polvo negro or black powder. It is most likely a pietta or san Marco made gun.
some more information about the gun. It is a 22 rifle and single shot. The MR and OG and what looks like a caligraphy D was on the under side of the barrel. I also saw another set of symbols that were hidden by the wood handle. A crown with a symbol that looks like a chemical beeker. The gun I believe was used in WWII. The series of symbols above is a Crown then the Cap letter R then a star over a boxed lower case t then the beeker symbol and the last is a crown with teh letter ELG in a circle.
