This tells you this man is abusive. What a person tells you in a situation like this is usually the truth. When they do say something you wonder about ask an open ended question like "why is that?" or "how did that happen?" If you open the door he will step in and you will learn more. Use this info, listen and be smart because it will tell you whether you should continue the relationship.
