Firstly, it would hurt like hell; if you go somewhere professional, the piercing would be quick and painless - it's worth the money. If you do it yourself, you'll almost definitely get an infection which would cause you a lot of pain. Trust me, you'll be regretting that you ever pierced your own ears.
