The chances are very small, on average. However, theoretically, you can still be in your fertile window and the shorter your average cycle the higher the probability of conception.
As an example, for a 27 days cycle the probability of being in the fertile window on day 22 (i.e. 5 days before the start of your new cycle) is 4%. This does not mean you have a 4% chance of getting pregnant, you have 4% chance to be in the fertile window. As a comparison, on day 11, the probability of being in the fertile window would be 70%.
To be sure about your fertile and infertile days it is advisable to keep track of an ovulation calendar. You can use it to conceive but also for natural family planning (to prevent conception).
