I love this one!!! The teardrop tattoo of yore is a prison mark meaning 'mother's tears' as in your brother dies while you are in prison, and you were not home to help mom out.....The family may have fallen on hard times and needed you there to work and bring in some money, but you couldn't help cause you were in prison......

Sometime in the early 80's American International pictures brought out a coupla movies in which gang members wore the teardrops for 'taking care of business', i.e. killing a rival gang member, and thus cemented the concept of the teardrops tattoos on the average movie goers mind....But don't think every one you meet with these marks on them are hardened killers or even ex-cons, they may be posers, or just think they need a reminder of a panful time in their life.....Hope this helps.........
