The clearest isn't an oil based polyurethane, it is a water based polyacrylic. These are clearer and typically used on maple or bamboo because they do not amber the face of the wood. Minwax sells one in most home improvement stores. Nothing is completely clear, but you can pick up a small can and try it out on a sample. The disadvantage to these products is they are a lot more expensive and also not nearly as strong.
There are many advantages of having bamboo wood floors and there are some disadvantages. There is no actual test proving that bamboo wood floors are better or stronger than wood floors. It really just depends on your personal preference.
There are many products available to clean wood floors. A floor with no polyurethane finish should be swept regularly, damp mopped and waxed. For a polyurethaned floor, including almost all pre-finished floors, you can use a mix of one part white vinegar to 3 parts water to mop or sponge clean your floor. You can polish with a product such as Bruce Hardwood Floor cleaner.
Oil based cleansers are great for hard wood floors. Water or too many chemicals can really mess up hard wood floors. Every once in a while you can use the steam shark it works great.
No, you cannot clean wood floors with a steam mop. The steam will cause the wood to bubble and will get a mould underneath it.
The moisture difference between Wood floors and wood sub floors would be 4% Plywood sub floors are about 12 to 13% here in Northern Calif. and the wood flooring is usually from 7-9 % .Now of coarse moisture and RH plays into the picture too. The ocean & lake areas may have a greater % of moisture in their wood sub floors due to greater RH
Yes, but be careful of fumes, it can affect you
Yes. There is a product called Bar Top that dries as a clear, thick coating on wood.
Polyurethane will give a long lasting easy to apply finish. Use a water based polyurethane ans clean up will be much easier. You should get years of wear from a good polyurethane finish.
About $80 to rent a floor sander and polyurethane is about $25 a gallon. So depends on how big of an area
Screening a floor means a light sanding, just to take off the polyurethane. Coating it, is to reapply to finish.

If a little water gets on hardwood floors it shouldn't hurt the floors. The finish may be damaged but that can be fixed by sanding the area and reapplying a thin coat of polyurethane.
Yes.You first need to "screen" it. Just mean a very light sanding to remove the top film and roughen up the service to give the new layer something to bite into. We do this in houses all the time. 4 or 5 years after we do someones floors, we will come out and screen the floors and put on just one coat.
Wood floors are really good to have and can look beautiful , but the only thing about them is that they have to usually be washed on a daily basis to remove any dirt from traffic .
Be careful with this one. If it is thin-laminate wood flooring, you should NOT remove the coating. Check with someone first. If its solid wood, get a decent brand of liquid stripper from the hardware store, follow all instructions and you should do just fine.
Once all the solvent in the product has evaporated and it has cured the smell will be gone, until then just ventilate the room, it will help it dry faster too.
I recommend using a water-based polyurethane sealer for white pine floors. Make sure to choose a sealer specifically formulated for wood floors to provide durability and protection against wear and tear. Sand and clean the floors thoroughly before applying the sealer for best results.
