I did it with a large sterilized needle and had no problems. it didnt hurt that badly or even bleed much and it healed fine. i pierced the lowerleft side of my lip. however, if anything you use is not competely sterile the risk for infections increases greatly and scars are permanent! you can also pierce the wrong place and end up hurting yourself or nicking something, or piercing in a place that wont heal correctly, may migrate or be rejected by your body. its much safer and results are more likely to be satisfactory if you have it done professionally. but if your up for the risks....just make sure EVERYTHING is completely sterile and rinse after eating and before bed with Listerine Antiseptic. it is NOT the kind with alcohol in it. DONT use any alcohol based mouthwashes or rubbing alcohol. it dries the area out and restricts blood flow. also the H2O after piercing spray would be worth purchasing and using 3-6 times a day to remove the crust the forms on the outside. don t play with it or touch it and wash your hands regularly if you have to touch it. if you cant afford piercing spray or find the Antiseptic Listerine without alcohol then use warm saltwater.

No it is not safe to pierce your own lip. there is also no way to sterilize any equipment, unless you have tons of money to throw down on an auto clave. So no, it is not. No ifs and or buts, its not don't do it. If its worth doing its worth going to a professional.

When piercing your own lip should you pierce it inside out or outside in?

Don't do it yourself. Go to a person who knows how. This is not something you want to do wrong because it could ruin your lip for the rest of your life. But if you were to pierce it yourself pierce it from the outside going in.

How can you safely pierce your own lip?

If I were you, I'd go to a professional, but make sure you go to someone recommended or else they might use dirty needles, etc. ----------------------- There is no "safe" way to pierce your own lip. If you are hell bent on doing it yourself then I would recommend lots and lots of research and you're going to spend more to do it right at home than you would if you were having it done professionally.

Piercing your lip by yourself is it safe to use ice?

You should not self-pierce your lip as it requires proper technique, proper equipment, and also you need to keep everything sanitary. But if you have already done this by yourself then I would say that you can use ice because using ice is considered the best method for healing lip piercing. You can place an ice pack directly on the swollen area for some time and repeat this for a couple of times to get rid of the swelling. If you are facing any kind of major issue then you must consult a professional without wasting any time.
