Not a good Idea. The vibration and handling it will most likely make it come off. Also if you mount it just a little off you will never get it to align with the sights.
The muzzle is the end of the barrel.

The Crosman 1077 is far superior. For two reasons. It is a true Pellet rifle and has a rifled barrel that makes it more accurate. The Recruit is a BB / Pellet rifle with a smooth boar barrel. The 1077 is modeled after the real Ruger 1022.

The Fore-grip is under the barrel (it's removable and adjustable) It attaches to the rail under the barrel.
Take it to a factory authorized repair center.
Sometimes it on the top of the barrel near the rear sight. Sometimes it's on the side of the barrel.
