Yes and NO. Always ALWAYS talk to your doctor before taking diet pills!!! Failure to do so can really harm you and your body and can even kill you regardless your age. When you take diet pills and exercise (a lot or a little), you will lose a lot of weight. However, if you starve yourself while doing these two things your body will slowly shut down to help try to keep your body functioning. This will result in extreme fatigue and low calorie burn. When you starve yourself, your body's instinct says "I was starved so I must prepare incase it happens again" and when you resume normal eating habits your body will store excess fat incase you become starved again. Starving can and will result in hospitalization and excessive weight gain- that is almost impossible to lose, and even death. Trust me, I have done it and seen it happen at the hospital. Four years ago (in college) I went from a size 14 to a size 6 in a little over a month using an over-the-counter diet pill. I was approaching death and thankfully was forced by a true friend to go to the hospital. I also had to go through counseling and times of severe vomiting and mood swings during my recovery process. Since then, I gained 100 lbs more than I was before I lost weight the frist time!!! (70 of those pounds were gained in less than 2 yrs ago)

The key to a good and productive diet with exercise and/or diet pills is to eat.... yes eat.... a small portion of food (as long as it's not deep fried) every 4 to 6 hours. This is hard to do when taking diet pills because you are not hungry and sometimes you may have to force yourself. Doing this will not only make you feel better, but it really increases your metabolism. Also, replacing soda (even Diet Soda) with water will make a huge difference in just the first week. The best diet pill should be determined by your healthcare provider and taken strictly as directed. Diet pills you can buy over the counter at a local store or gas station is, 9 times out of 10, just a placebo, ("sugar pill", which makes you think your losing weight) caffeine pill, or a water loss pill (i.e. Hydroxycut {which has now been recalled by the FDA}- H2O or water's proper chemical name is dihydrogen oxide..... so in other words the name tells you water cut or water loss)

The final key to weight loss with a pill and diet plan is to remember when you stop taking those pills you must maintain your proper diet and exercise plan or the weight will come back. Always consult your healthcare (I can never stress the importance of this enough) provider about Dieting and Weight Loss pills because of the extreme risks involved with diet pills due to certain medications and their reactions, health issues, and body mass to height ratio will help you and your doctor decide what goals and plans are best for you.
