Piercing guns are not good for any kind of piercing...
Guns are not fitted to the specific person they are piercing... And cannot really be changed to fit each individual piercing/piercee.
Ever heard of the Cauliflower effect? It's when a piercing goes wrong, due to the cartilage being broken wrong, which generally happens with a gun. Keloids can also form from improper healing.
We're not talking about going to mom's pincushion, grabbing a random needle, sterilizing it with a Bic lighter and sticking it through the side of your nose. A lot of people try that. NOT real smart.
A "piercing needle" is a completely different story. These are the kind of needles doctors use to start IVs with. They're hollow and the tip is beveled. A piercing needle doesn't poke its way through like either a sewing needle or a gun stud does, it creates an X shape, then the jewelry is easier to put in.
It's also been sterilized in a machine called an autoclave that kills any germs on the needle, and it's kept in a sealed package until it's time to pierce someone with it. Piercing needles give you a clean, easy-to-heal piercing that doesn't hurt as much as getting pierced with a gun does. I've had a lot of piercings done with both piercing needles and guns...no one will ever pierce me with a gun again. Needles are just that much better.
Piercing guns should not be used for any type of cartilage piercing.
The force can actually shatter the cartilage and cause for ridiculous pain and an extended healing period with a piercing much more prone to infection. It's actually illegal to pierce cartilage with gun in quite a few states.
DIY piercing are also a bad idea. Going into a shop is your best bet for a safe and not as painful piercing. :)
it is better to get your nose pierced with a needle because guns can not be sterilized properly so that means that there is less risk of infection .

The girl cleaned the nose are to be pierced and marked it and asked if the spot was okay. Then after tell you to breath, sticks the needle in and it's all DONE

Depends on your pain tolerance, but in my experience and from that of others, it hurts less than getting your earlobes pierced. Mine was done so quickly I barely noticed. Just make sure you get it done with a needle and not a gun. As much as the gun might seem like the quicker and better option, it was never meant to go through cartilage like your nose and can cause more damage and increase healing time. The needle is quick, painless and reduces the healing time. Good luck!

Without a doubt, the needle over the gun......For one thing the gun touching you is the same gun that has touched everyone before you....The gun cannot be sterilized or cleaned per se..... Also the gun will smash the cartilage, and be especially painful..... In the hands of a competent piercer the needle over the gun, now, forever and always....Hope this helps........... i went to a place and they said you can loose your ear if you get it done with a gun because of the pressure and force so if they are not going to do it with a needle just go somewhere else do not take the unnecessary risk

normally if you go to a chemist to have your ears pierced they just use a little gun.. it is quite painless.

apparently its not painful, its just more intense like pressure but not sore or anything and is known for not being sore after getting it pierced but nearly all of them are to be honest i cant give you an honest answer but i found this out and i have had my nose pierced twice but with a gun but guns are known to be painful but the 1st time literally you couldn't feel a thing but the second time it was sore kind of hurt while getting it pierced as well and after when i went back home after getting it done but i love the piercing well worth it tongues more worse in pain as I've had it done probably the nose was the best piercing for not being in pain.

Any body piercing shop or tattoo shop that offers piercing services or Claire's. But, I have to say, it is preferable to get your cartilage pierced with a needle because a gun can shatter your cartilage.
