Is being on YouTube a bad thing?

When you should be working or at an educational establishment no. If you mean in a video then it depends on what you were doing in the video in question. It isn't bad but most likely it will be bad for you if you don't like it.

well to start off YouTube is a great place to listen to music watch funny videos

but things can get quite inappropriate such as nudity

YouTube is a good place pretty much because of the sheer amount of videos. You can pretty much find a video on any topic. It's good to listen to music on. You can sign up for a channel, where you can talk to people, comment, rate videos and of course, upload videos of your own, which is very fun. YouTube is also being built in to many new technological devices now, mobile phone's have it built in, iPod's and even TV's.

The only unfortunate thing about YouTube these days is how ad-based it is becoming. On a lot of videos now, you must wait while an advert plays at the beginning for around 30 seconds. Copyright is fierce, when you try to upload any newly-released music, it is blocked due to 'Copyright Infringement', usually from WMG or Vevo.
