You might, but it depends on how large or significant the damage was and how quickly and fully your body / ears heal on their own. If it is not going too well (maybe by the time you are 14 or 15), you could try going to a doctor. Some might be able or willing to stitch it back up.

There are different dangers to this modification. Though many think it ugly, I think lovely. Yes, after maybe a 1 inch stretched ears, they will most likely not shrink back. There are the dangers of infections of course, such as keliods, which are lumps that form on the ear and are really hard to get rid of. Some solutions are surgery and radiation which may not be anything fun. You may also risk the lobe tearing after a larger gauge size. As long as the jewelry is not to heavy the skin will eventually shrink, and your not going to drastic so yes it should shrink to a 20g within a few months or less. --- i have my ears stretched to around a 2g and they are almost completely closed up, so given that, I'm sure if you put in a smaller ring the skin should close up on it.

No it shouldn't effect the gauge . If you want it to hurt less i suggest getting it done at a piercing shop . They have special creams and lotions that numb and protect your stretched ears from infection .
