Be honest and up front. Some would suggest that you lie. Even little white lies hurt. Just tell him what you think and let him know that being friends is okay for now. There are plenty of group events the two of you can do. Suggest some.
You also could either ....
#1 say maybe then after a couple days say i don't really think we will work out so no.
#2 say you already have a boyfriend (even though you might not) and say he lives away from you. then if you want u could say maybe after we break up.
