If you have a miscarriage at six weeks you probably won't see much more than blood clots as the embryo is still very small. See the link for a timeline and pictures.
It may depend on the reason for the miscarriage and how far into the pregnancy she was. There is no reason not to start trying again right away, after a very early miscarriage - with your doctor's OK.
Sounds like a miscarriage. I had the same thing happen years ago. In the first 6-8 weeks this happens when a miscarriage results. I never did have any children because each time it happened.
