So if you are 18 you can get a piercing without parental consent in Vancouver, but in North Vancouver you need to be 19 years old in order to get a piercing without parental consent. 19 years old being the age of *majority in Canada (*able to vote and therefore make decisions on your own and legally and adult) So every City, Town, Etc. can have higher requirements enforceable under the bylaws. For example you can get ear piercing at the age of 16 years old without parental consent but to get anything else pierced you need to be 19 years old or have a parent sign for you.
