Sure you can talk normally after a tongue piercing, it's the next day that is a challenge and I would suggest you try not to talk or show the piercing off until it's a week or two old. Stressing the tongue to show it off or talk needlessly is not good for the piercing and will cause the swelling to worsen. Ice cubes , freezies, slushies will be your best friend for a few days.
