I need more info,but i will take a shot at it lol. These guns were made under many names most would have a brand name and the name volunteer . If you have one that has only the volunteer name they are the most rare and getting very hard to come by. If your gun is in working shape and looks fair and is the one with volunteer only on it it could bring up to 2500.00 to the right collector.

You did not tell us what MAKE your shotgun is. The two 1895s that come to mind are a lever action Winchester RIFLE, and a Davenport shotgun, which had a prominent release lever right behind the hammer.
