Like many things in life it depends upon the person. Our weight, size, environment, eating habits and lifestyle all effect the amount of water we require. Every day you lose water through your breath, perspiration, urine and bowel movements.
For your body to function properly, you must replenish its water supply by consuming beverages and foods that contain water. Many sources say that a good average would be eight 8 fluid ounce cups a day. However I (being more active then the common person) require more then that to function.
Your body will tell you when you are dehydrated, it also tells you when you've had enough water. If you get a headache or if you feel drowsy try drinking some water, I'm willing to bet it's your body telling you something. Usually you don't need to measure how much water you drink your body will make you crave it just don't ignore that thirst.
I'm the furthest thing from a health nut but just remember that if you drink a soda or work out you just dehydrated yourself so don't forget to replace that water.
