The child of a slave woman and a free man would typically be considered a slave, inheriting the legal status of the mother. This was a common practice in many societies where slavery existed.
The cost of buying freedom as a slave varied greatly depending on the time period, location, individual circumstance, and the slave owner's willingness to sell. In some cases, slaves were able to save money over time or negotiate their freedom through labor or services rendered. Other times, the price was set at a fixed amount based on market conditions or the perceived value of the slave.
There were 12 slave states after the Missouri Compromise.
In many slave societies, slaves were legally prohibited from owning land as it would give them economic independence and potentially challenge the existing social and economic order. Slaves were considered property themselves and granting them land ownership rights would undermine the institution of slavery.
A rising fear of slave revolts

Someone gave you the wrong idea. Slaves were not generally whipped. They were treated better than that. Their owners wanted their slaves to work for them with a minimum of fuss. You do not whip a horse or a dog if you want them to work for you. The only dogs that anyone whips are the dogs that fight in pits. Slaves that are whipped make lousy workers. Dogs that are whipped don't hunt. Horses that are whipped do not pull plows, or do not do a very good job of it. Instead, when your horse is sick, you call the vet, and when your slave is sick, you call the doctor. Your slave like your horse had an adequate diet. You got the good part of the ham, he got the stringy part. It was just as nourishing. You got the best strawberries. He got the ones with rotten spots. You had the big comfortable house. He had the small crowded cabin. Both had heat in winter. Only if he threatened you or tried to escape and was caught was he whipped. Otherwise, you treated him like you would any other prized work animal.
The Bible records that Jesus was whipped by Roman soldiers before his crucifixion, but there is no specific mention of God being whipped in any religious texts.
The slaves would be thrown into the deck of the ship where there would have been no space, light or dryness because there were so many of them. Many slaves died as a result of this and because of deadly diseases being passed from slave to slave. Stories tell of how one captain of a slave ship, hung up a female black slave by her foot and then whipped her because she refused to dance naked on the deck of his ship - an invasion of privacy.
It depends on what the price is. If it was 11p or less they would be in prison for 10 years or more.If it was 12p or more there head would be choped of.
The prospect of freedom was their main incentive. A Roman slave had the option of buying his freedom, as they were allowed savings. That would have been up to the individual slave and his (or her) desire for a clean cabin. Im not sure the answer but the above answer is incorrect.
