That depends on the caliber of your rifle and its age.The current models made and dating back to 1940 in caliber 30-30 will hold six rounds total.One in the chamber and five in the magazine.Some earlier made models had many special order features including the type of magazine and that effected the length of the magazine tube,hence the amount of rounds held in the tube.
