It depends mostly on there size and whatever formula they use (of which there are dozens to determine how many calories you should consume based on your size, and body composition). As a bodybuilder on the medium size (180lbs) My current goal is to put on some mass with as minimal bodyfat as possible. On days I work out I usually consume about 2,700 calories per day, and on my off days I usually drop my carbs a bit so I probably end up consuming 2,400 calories and I usually have one cheat meal every 7-10 days, on these days my consumption is probably in the 3000-3200 range. It's all based on body size, composition, current goal, and your activity level, as well as age. It's imporatant to consider that every year after age 18 your metabolism slows by 1%. I would say that it depends on first the bodybuilders goal. First, they must find their maintenance caloric intake. This is as many calories that they need to hold their weight where they are. If a bodybuilder is wanting to cut or bulk, they will adjust their caloric intake to ~500 calories under maintenance for cutting, or ~500 calories above maintenance for bulking.
