It doesn't matter honestly I ate solid food the day I got mine pierced so it just depends on the person their self
Answer:
You need to listen to what your body is telling you, if your tongue is sore staying on easy going foods like soup and Sandwiches may be in your best interest. The swelling will go down each and every day, but jumping into a steak dinner may not be quite the best plan if your tongue is sore. Generally by about day 4~5 you should start to get back into normal foods, but go easy. Stay on top of your oral hygiene and the cold stuff and you will find the swelling will drop quickly. From there you need to use your own judgement.

Well I would say about 20 minutes, here's the skinny. When you smoke be sure to have a bottle of cold water with you to sip while you're smoking, this way the residue from the smoke won't build up on the jewellery and you're keeping the piercing cool during the initial healing stages. Bottom line you should quit smoking any way, but you've heard that before. Keep the piercing cool and don't go over board with the smoking or you will find the swelling will become excessive.
Well a smart egg would have eaten before getting the tongue piercing done, but barring that over sight, eat easy going foods (soup sandwiches etc.) about an hour or two after the piercing. Don't forget the cold stuff for the swelling.
If its a freshly done piercing, no. If you have had it a while and its not loose, then maybe but theres a risk of the Chewing Gum getting stuck on it. I wouldnt.
I was told I didnt have to wait that as long I cleaned it with mouth wash immediately after it would be okay and I havent had any problems with it.
