OK I am going to give you the same blurb I give all my nostril piercing clients, this has worked just fine for the hundreds of nostril piercings I have done over the years so listen closely.

Here's the skinny of nostril piercing aftercare, (ring or stud makes little difference) what I want you to do is this. In the shower do your shampoo, conditioner, soap up rinse off. Take a small pea sized amount of Soft Soap { Aquarium, it's got fish on the bottle }(Dial is too strong) liquid antibacterial soap in your hand lather it up with a little water and wash your piercing while working the jewellery back and forth through the piercing. In the case of a stud shuffle the stud (push pull) allowing the soap to enter the piercing.

Now with the shower running poke your nose into the stream of water and shuffle the jewellery again rinsing the soap out of the piercing while moving the jewellery. Get out of the shower and dry off, that's it, no woo woo magic stuff, no facial scrubs near the piercing, no healing agents, antibiotic ointments or Dragon Mist, sea salt or any other so called piercing care stuff.

Do that once a day, daily for the first 2 weeks, it 2 weeks the stud or ring will start to move quite freely and that's a good thing (it means it's healing nicely). With nostril studs if the jewellery is at a point were it feels like it may come out too easily then go see your piercer and have him/her adjust or "tighten" the nostril screw ( this is done by removing the jewellery and bending the horse shoe slightly so the jewellery sits snugger to the nose.

After two weeks you need to back off with the soap to once every couple of days, when you are not using the soap you need to shuffle the jewellery under running water before you get out of the shower regardless of whether you used soap of not (we need to rinse the piercing any time you are showering or bathing to keep the piercing happy and healthy).

You can change the jewellery once you hit the 6 week mark from the time you got it pierced. Be sure to buy only good quality materials, junk will annoy your piercing and cause you grief. If you change the jewellery always keep your original stud or ring handy in case you react to the new jewellery, so you can take out the junk and put in the original to get you by till you can get a replacement. Aftercare is 90% common sense and 10% guidance. Happy piercings!
