Regardless of the prescence of a shell in the chamber. Keep your finger off the trigger and depress the small slide release button to the rear left of the trigger guard if looking from above. This is a button on the bottom of the shotgun which releases the slide.
This will alow you to cycle all the rounds out of the tube and eject out the side port without ever pressing the trigger.
