Smith & Wesson revolvers are not INTENDED to be taken apart by the owners- to clean and maintain the weapon does not require disassembly. Please contact S&W and request an owner's manual- no charge. The cylinder crane and the sideplate cannot be removed except with the use of tools- and the tool must fit properly, or you will certainly damage the screws. The sideplate is made to fit so snugly that prying it to remove will damage it. Would STRONGLY suggest that you take it to a competent pistolsmith if there is a problem with the lockwork. There are spray gun cleaners that can be used to flush dirt or crud from the lockwork without taking the gun apart.
