If indeed you feel you have a problem with inappropriate anger, that is the first step in dealing with it, and I applaud you for it! Good for you !! Everyone experiences anger, it's how you deal with it that's important. There are people who react to situations and those who respond to situations. I'm sure you have heard the saying, "It was a careless knee-jerk reaction." In essence, someone who reacts to an event does so with little thinking. It's more or less a spontaneous occurrence. You hear something, you see something, and you react. You will have to train yourself to be a responder. A responder is someone who focuses on what is being said, or what they see. They do not let their emotions distract them from what is actuallyhappening. They assimilate the information, they digest it, think about it, and then attempt to respond in an appropriate way. Is this easy? No way!! It takes 100% commitment on your part, and a lot of practice. Lastly, remember this. It is a learning process that requires time. If you lose your temper, do not get discouraged! All of life is a continual learning process. Still, you can improve greatly in this area. Just keep practicing!!
