Your Winchester model 1400 semi auto shotgun is gas operated.
Gun is restricted to 3 rounds by design. It has no mag plug, that is where the gas system is.
The Model 1400 (affectionately called the Mark I - my note) made its first appearance in 1964 using the Model 1200 slide action of a rotating, locking lug bolt and a gas valve system. In 1966, the Model 1400 was made available in with the new Winchester recoil reduction system.

Yes. The gas ports on the 1400 barrel will fill up with dirt/powder residue but it will work fine. I have been using an cut down 1400 barrel on my 1300 for many years.
At this time no,there are not any available. You could have a model 1300 slug barrel redone and have the gas ports added to this barrel. Then it will work fine in your model 1400 Winchester shotgun.
no the 1300 barrel does not have gas ports in it yes the 1300 barrel will fit ,no it does not have the gas ports BUT any competent machine shop or gunsmith can drill out the ports for you.
YOu need a gunsmith
Not anymore but I hear you can take a 1300 barrel and have gas ports added and that should work.
you cannot increase the capacity of a Winchester 140, 1400 or 1500 because the gas piston is in the end of the magazine tube and must line up with the ports in the barrel
