Well, that's a pretty open-ended question. What country? What state? How underage?
In the USA, underage kids generally get guns from their homes. Yup. From family members. Lots of households do NOT secure their firearms... which is just STUPID. Even if your entire family are trained shooters and have been shooting for years, parents NEED to secure their firearms! If not from your kids, then from home invaders and other criminals!
Kids can also buy them on the black market. Friends selling to friends. A lot of states do not require registration of firearms. So, a kid could buy it from a friend and there would be no documentation. That gun may be legit, or it may have been stolen. Read previous paragraph.
In some states, you can be as young as 15 to own a rifle. Although they can't buy it legally, they could get one as a gift from a parent/guardian.
Federal law states that a "licensed dealer" may only sell handguns to persons 21 years or older. Long guns may be sold to persons 18 years or older. You have to be at least 18 years old to own a handgun. Therefore, an 18 year old "can" buy a handgun from a private party, as long as they are NOT a "licensed dealer".
Am I anti-gun? No.
Do I think underage kids should have access to firearms? No.
Parents should take an active role in firearm ownership.
It starts with the parents. The first step is to enroll in a NRA hunter safety course. Most cases, kids can attend for free. Get educated before making ANY buying decision.
Buy a gun safe BEFORE you buy any firearm. Trigger locks are OK, but a gun safe is much safer.
