Adoption is one method, however, having a surrogate mother is also an option.

One thing I found, like in straight marriages, the couple that are wanting to start a family and want to bring a child into this world, usually want that child to be a part of them both, in some form or fashion. For a straight couple man/woman, this is much easier. Together a man and woman can generally conceive a child together, making that child a part of both of them. A "uniting" of two to become one. With a lesbian couple, this is not possible, as you know two females and even two males in a gay relationship cannot conceive a child. This is where for a lesbian couple a surrogate mother may be an option.

First they choose a male that they both can feel comfortable with as a donor, then one female, usually the butcher one if the relationship consist of a butch fem couple, will donate an egg. What happens then is under doctor care and guidance, of course, the egg is then fertilized with the male sperm and then implanted into the second female. Though there has to be a 3rd party involved in the conception (the males sperm) both females in the relationship are playing a role in the conception of the child. One females eggs are planted into the others and therefore they are unified into one to have "their child".

To find out more details it is of course advised to seek a professional in this type of work and to find out the details of the risk, the options, the cost, and anything related to this type of medical procedure.
