It depends on what you are using . For an iPhone or iPad touch the app icon on the screen and it will start to jiggle. A "x" will appear on the icon, touch it and hold your finger on it. A message will appear asking if you want to delete it. Click yes. To stop the jiggle go back to you home button and press it.
