based on personal experience, it made me gain weight. after giving birth, i was able to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight of 113 lbs. that time, i was on injectible contraception but it didn't work for me because i experienced break-through bleeding, severe pimples and mood swings. my OB then prescribed althea. everything is ok. my skin cleared up, no mood swings, headaches... the only bummer is i gained weight. i started taking althea July of 2008, i weighed 113 then. march 2009, i weighed 126 lbs. a year later, i weighed 136. and now, i weigh 140 lbs. i will visit my OB soon to discuss what i can do coz i actually, don't eat much and love fruits and vegetables, so there's really no reason for me to gain weight.
