The Winchester model 64 and 64A were made from 1933-1957.There were 66,783 made during this time span. They were serial numbered in the model 1894 serial numbers. This model was reintroduced during 1972 and discontinued again in 1973.From 1972-1973 Winchester made another 8,250 rifles.
Checkering refers to the diamond patterned designs etched in the stock of some shotguns and rifles.
Made 33-57 and 72-73
The 120 is a 1300 with a hardwood stock and no checkering.
The pre-64 Winchester Model 70 typically has 20 lines per inch checkering on the stock. This checkering pattern offers a good balance between grip texture and aesthetics, making it popular among hunters and shooters.
There are many different models of Winchester rifles available for people to purchase. There are many different models of Winchester rifles, like the modles 1866, 173, 1876, 1886, 1892, and the1895.
Yes they are very good rifles,I own 3 of them.
The rifle is worth $1100.00 at 100% condition. $350.00 at 60% condition. This price is for the diamond weave checkering. The basket weave checkering is worth about $200.00 less money. If it is the carbine (barrel band and no checkering) add a couple of hundred dollars.
The Model 64, in my opinion, is the finest variant of the Winchester lever action .30/30. The original version of the Model 64 was produced from 1933 to 1957 and was offered in a standard 'Deer Rifle' model and a 20" barrel Carbine, in both standard and deluxe versions. In excellent condition, the originals are legitimate $900 and up rifles. The Model 64 (or Model 64A as it is sometimes called) was reintroduced in 1972 and only lasted a couple of years. It suffered the same public acceptance problems as all post-64 Winchester rifles. In excellent condition today, these can be had for $400 and in my opinion represent a real sleeper on the Winchester market. With the closure of the New Haven USRAC plant and potentially no more Model 94 rifles at all, these small production subvariants like the 64A, 94 Big Bore, and so forth have already started to bring more money on the collector market. The value should only go up. sales@countrygunsmith.net
