The Model 64, in my opinion, is the finest variant of the Winchester lever action .30/30. The original version of the Model 64 was produced from 1933 to 1957 and was offered in a standard 'Deer Rifle' model and a 20" barrel Carbine, in both standard and deluxe versions. In excellent condition, the originals are legitimate $900 and up rifles. The Model 64 (or Model 64A as it is sometimes called) was reintroduced in 1972 and only lasted a couple of years. It suffered the same public acceptance problems as all post-64 Winchester rifles. In excellent condition today, these can be had for $400 and in my opinion represent a real sleeper on the Winchester market. With the closure of the New Haven USRAC plant and potentially no more Model 94 rifles at all, these small production subvariants like the 64A, 94 Big Bore, and so forth have already started to bring more money on the collector market. The value should only go up. sales@countrygunsmith.net
