Can you still get pregnant without having a period for over 4 years?

Well I will tell you this..I was just diagnosed with HYPOthyroidism which messes with your hormones. There's no telling how long I've had it. Needless to say I went like 3 years without a period so I wasn't ovulating that whole time or that I knew of. During this whole time I had sex all the time without a condom with my boyfriend (at the time) and never got pregnant.

I went to a reproductive endocrinologist because me and my husband want to have children (MAY 08). They did blood work and an ultra sound. Ultra sound showed that I also had polycystic ovaries but they said that was normal. But everything else was fine. They called me a week later to tell me that my thyroid hormone was super low and that is why along with the PCOS caused me not to ovulate. They perscribed SYNTHROID but had to increase the dose Im now on 188 was on 75. I bugged my DR to help me have a kid she wanted me to wait until they figured out my thyroid but she folded. She perscribed METFORMIN 1000mg.. She said cut the pill in hal(500)f but I didnt I took the whole thing. A week later I took a First Response Ovulation Test and what do you know..The test came up positive..Iand I hadnt even gotten my period yet, in the past I took them (befor Metformin) and I wouldn't get anything I'm talking no results. I called my Dr and asked if the meds would give me a false positive and she said no..Only thing is my husband is in Kuwait and I gotta wait to next week to try and make a baby lol :) So the answer is "YES" you can ovulate without a period...Im extremely happy!
