Depends on how old the revolver is.
Any modern ammo will do, except for +P.
Needs to be checked out by a competent gunsmith.
Yes
38 S&W ammo. which is a shorter version of the 38 special cartridge.
CTG stands for Cartridge
No difference. CTG is the abbreviation for cartridge. A revolver marked 38 Special CTG, or .38 S&W Special CTG is simply indicating that it is chambered for a .38 Special cartridge. This IS different from .38 S&W, and older, shorter, fatter, less powerful cartridge.
yes
Cartridge
.38 special IS the correct ammo for a gun chambered in .38 special. Trying to take a round and push it into the barrel is not the way to "test" to see if it's the correct ammo because the cartridge or bullet won't fit into the barrel that way unless you force it. If the gun is a .38 special, you buy .38 special ammo and it will work.
ctg = cartridge
What are you asking?
I bought a S&W 35 Auto CTG Model 1913 in Aug 2003 in very good condition for $355. It will actually chamber and fire 32 ACP ammo. However it will not eject and extract properly limiting you to one shot at a time. I have never seen any 35 ammo. Even Old Western Scrounger does not have any. Some might turn up from time to time but it would be rather expensive to shoot. Mike .35 Smith & Wesson ammo is currently available at buffaloarms.com for $98.00/box of 50 cartridges (as of 12/29/10).
