No. Both rounds headspace on the case opening. The 40SW would slide into the chamber too far. If it did go off, there might be damage to the pistol.

What happens if you shoot a paintball gun without co2 or paintballs?

without CO2 or paintballs, you just put the bolt forward. In most guns this is how you de-cock after a day of play, but if you have a regulator, it may store a single shot. If you fire without co2, the gun will not cycle or fire a paintball, it will only go into the barrel. If you fire with no paintballs and co2, you may damage your gun.

Ask Jeeves Inchow far do you need to be away from a house to fire a gun?

It depends on what you mean. You can fire a gun anywhere, however, it may or may not be legal depending you where you are and what the local gun laws are AND it may or not be safe, depending where you are. Check your local gun laws and be sure you can safely fire the gun without damaging any property or other people.

Can you shoot a gun without ammo?

No, and you can't drive a car with no fuel. A gun is a device to launch ammunition. You can "dry fire" a gun with no ammo, but that is not good for SOME guns.
