No. The WSM stands for Winchester Short Magnum. They are not interchangeable.
No. The WRF (Winchester Rim Fire) is a larger diameter cartridge. It is the same diameter are the 22 WMR (Winchester Magnum Rimfire) but is shorter than the magnum, It may be safety fired in a .22 magnum rifle, but not in a 22 LR. 22 LR ammo should NOT be fired in a rifle chambered for 22 WRF.
I am having the same problem, what have you found out?
When they say what is a type of gun is a 460--I'm assuming what they are really asking about is the Wetherby 460 Magnum which is a proprietary belted magnum big/dangerous game rifle cartridge made by Weatherby (the gun manufacturer) for their proprietary hunting rifle of the same calibre.
The most common .22 rifle cartridge is the .22 Long Rifle (that is the name- it can also be used in pistols). A loaded cartridge is just under 1 inch long (25mm, or .985 inches) It has a lead bullet that is .223 inches in diameter (5.7mm). The cartridge case with no bullet is .590 inches long (15mm) There ARE other .22 cartridges- the .22 Short is the same diameter, but shorter. The .22 Magnum is slightly fatter, and longer than the Long Rifle cartridge. The .22 Long (not Long Rifle, just Long) is rarely seen today.
It depends on what you mean. Strictly speaking, a .223 cartridge has a .22 caliber bullet, but when people say .22, they are usually referring to .22 Short, Long Rifle, or Magnum cartridge, which is different than .223.
No. Revolvers use the rimmed .357 Magnum cartridge. While there are automatics designed to fire this cartridge (Coonan and Desert Eagle, primarily), it's not the same as the cartridge you had in mind. If you saw a Glock marked '.357', that means it's chambered for the .357 Sig cartridge - not the .357 Magnum. While the .357 Magnum is essentially a lengthened .38 Special, the .357 Sig is an entirely different cartridge, consisting of a .40 S&W casing, necked down to fit a 9mm projectile. The cartridge name is a reflection of the attempts at the designer to come up with an automatic pistol cartridge which could duplicate the performance of the .357 Magnum.
.270 refers to the caliber of the rifle. It fires a center fire, bottle necked cartridge. The parent cartridge is the 30-06, which is necked down to fire a smaller diameter bullet- .270 instead of .308. A very versatile long range hunting cartridge with moderate recoil. I think every major rifle maker in the US has built guns in this caliber.
that rifle is the same as the Savage/ cooey/ lakefield-mossberg 64. you can buy direct from Savage Arms.
WMR stands for Winchester Magnum Rimfire- and is the proper name for the 22 Magnum. They are the same cartridge. The 22 WRF is the Winchester rimfire, and is a shorter, less powerful version of the 22 magnum.
If you are talking about the 7.62x51 and the .308 Winchester then yes they can safely be interchanged
Yes. The 44 magnum can fire 44 special ammo in the same way a .357 magnum can use .38 Special.
