Turn the ignition key to the accessory position which is normally counterclockwise. Only the radio will be drawing power. If you have a good battery you could listen for a couple of hours without running the battery down. Any longer and the battery may go dead. Make sure that the headlights are off; these may still remain on when the key is in the accessory position. Headlights will drain the battery very quickly. It may also be advisable to run the engine for a few minutes every half-hour or so, to recharge the battery.
810 joules / 30 minutes = 810 joules / 1,800 seconds = 0.45 joule per second = 0.45 watt.By the way:-- The battery supplies the energy at the rate of 0.45 watt.-- The radio uses or consumes the energy at the rate of 0.45 watt.
Sometimes there can be enough power in the battery to run electrical things but not enough to start the engine. You need to get the battery tested to see if it will hold a charge. You can try to jump start it using another battery. If it will not start this way,try charging the battery first before going on to the starter. If it turns out to be the starter, you can have it rebuilt. This can run about 20.00-40.00.
You have undoubtedly changed batteries or run the battery down. The display LOC means the radio is locked. You will have the insert the proper code to active the radio. If you cannot find the code, contact your GM dealer. Head on over to www.DelcoLockCodes.com. They charge $4.99 for the code but they got back to me in an hour or so and the code worked perfectly. Better than paying a dealer $40 - $50!
Yes, the battery will be ruined.
Car battery is run down.
No. A car radio uses so little power that it is completely impossible for it to even run down your battery a little bit. Using the air-con however, will wear out the battery and increase your fuel consumption.I beg to differ with the above answer. Of course a radio will run down your battery if it is left on. Now if you are referring to the clock on the radio, then that uses very little power and it will take a long time for it to run the battery down. If your battery is running down overnight and the radio is not on playing music, look for some light somewhere that is on. Trunk, under-hood, curtorsey, glove box, dome, etc. It can also be a relay that is stuck. Lastly the battery itself can have a dead cell which will run the battery down overnight. To find out disconnect the negative battery cable overnight. If the battery is dead in the morning, replace it as it has a dead cell.
A run down or nearing end of life battery. Dirty and/or loose battery connections.
As long as the battery is functional you can continue to jump it. However, know that every time you run a car battery down you shorten its life. A battery that is designed to be run completely down and then recharged is called a deep cycle battery. Automobile batteries are not deep cycle batteries. Discharging them completely causes damage to the battery itself.
Every time you run an automobile battery down, you cut the life of the battery. These batteries are not designed to be run down. They are designed to hold a charge continuously. Run the battery down three or four times and you will ruin the battery.
If any light is on then overtime it will run the battery down. So will a stuck relay. In addition a dead cell in the battery will run it own overnight.
In addition to acutally driving the car, using the little features such as the lights, horn, radio, and air conditioning/heating will drain the battery of a car. Also a dead cell in the battery will cause it to run down overnight. And if something is on such as a dome light, under hood light, trunk or glove box light. A stuck relay will also run the battery down.
How does battery run down protection work on a 2009 CHEVY VEHICLES?
Running a cooling tray off the battery will put an additional load on the battery causing it to run down faster
A loose battery cable can cause the battery to not be able to receive a charge from the alternator. This can run the battery down. Will it kill the battery? Yes and no. Draining the battery once will do very little harm but it will do some. Run it down a few times and you can ruin the battery. Auto batteries are designed to be kept charged and are not designed to be run down and recharged like a deep cell marine battery or golf cart battery.
why das my interior light stay on and run the battery down.
You can run a deep cycle battery completely dead without damaging the battery. They are designed to be run down.
